Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was a German politician and leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, better known as the Nazi Party. Ascending to chancellor in 1933, Hitler established a totalitarian regime characterized by aggressive expansionist ideology, strict racial policies, and massive genocide known as the Holocaust. His aggressive policies and expansionist ideology triggered World War II. Hitler's radical policies, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 70-85 million people, approximately 3-4% of the world's population, made him a figure of hatred and a symbol of evil.
