Judit Polgár, born July 23, 1976, in Budapest, Hungary, is universally recognized as the greatest female chess player in history. A prodigious talent, she broke records by achieving the title of grandmaster at just 15 years old. Eschewing women-only tournaments, Polgár consistently competed against the top male players, securing wins against numerous world champions, including Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov. Throughout her career, she shattered gender barriers in the traditionally male-dominated world of elite chess. After retiring in 2014, Polgár remains actively involved in promoting chess education and serves as an inspiration for countless players worldwide.
