Robert E. Kahn, born on December 23, 1938, is an American computer scientist chiefly known for co-inventing the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), the fundamental communication protocols at the heart of the Internet. Working alongside Vinton Cerf, Kahn's pioneering work laid the groundwork for the digital revolution, enabling global connectivity and communication. Educated at Princeton and MIT, he has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Turing Award.
