Jónsi, born Jón Þór Birgisson on April 23, 1975, is an Icelandic musician and lead vocalist of the post-rock band Sigur Rós. Known for his "angelic" falsetto voice and use of a cello bow on guitar, he creates atmospheric and ethereal soundscapes the band has been celebrated for. In addition, Jónsi has multiple solo albums blending ambient, electronica, and pop influences. Outside of music, he creates multimedia art installations combining ambient sounds, visuals, and physical space for an immersive, sensory-rich experience.
