Ma Anand Sheela (born December 28, 1949) is an Indian‑Swiss former personal secretary to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, better known as Osho. In the early 1980s she effectively ran his Oregon commune, controlling daily operations, finances, and the group’s political and legal strategies. In 1986, she pleaded guilty to attempted murder for her role in the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack, as well as assault, wire‑tapping, arson, and immigration fraud. After serving her sentence, she relocated to Switzerland, where she has lived since. While critics portray her as manipulative or even villainous, others point to her loyalty, charisma, and formidableness making her a controversial figure.
