Max Planck (1858-1947) was a German physicist whose groundbreaking work in the field of quantum mechanics earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918. Planck is best known for his quantum theory, which introduced the idea that energy is quantized, fundamentally changing the way we understand the physical world. This theory proposed that energy is emitted in discrete units called quanta, a concept that became the foundation for quantum physics. Planck's work laid the groundwork for future physicists, including Albert Einstein, to further develop the field of quantum mechanics. His contributions to physics have made him one of the most important figures in the scientific community, influencing the direction of modern physics.
