Miriam Toews is an acclaimed Canadian novelist and essayist known for her sharp wit, emotional depth, and compassionate portrayals of life within and beyond Mennonite communities. She has since written several widely celebrated novels, including The Flying Troutmans (2008), All My Puny Sorrows (2014), and Women Talking (2018), the latter adapted into an Academy Award–nominated film in 2022. Much of her work explores themes of faith, family, female resilience, and the struggle for personal freedom within restrictive social systems.
