Marina Abramović is a pioneering performance artist whose work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. Born in Belgrade in 1946, she began her career in the early 1970s and remains one of the most influential figures in contemporary art. Her performances, which often endure for hours or days, have provoked fascination and controversy. Abramović's notable works include "Rhythm 0" (1974) and "The Artist Is Present" (2010), which solidified her standing as the "grandmother of performance art."
