Ric Ocasek (1944-2019) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band The Cars. Formed in the late 1970s, The Cars achieved major success with hits like "Just What I Needed" and "Drive." Ocasek's distinctive voice and innovative production style helped shape the sound of the new wave era. Beyond The Cars, he produced albums for artists such as Weezer and No Doubt.
